It would take ten more years to contribute even half as much to the music industry as 2024 has. The year brought back artists from the den, and got nearly every big-name singer to release an album and an entourage of tour announcements alongside good old rivalries. In the plethora of these celebrated comebacks that ensued in the music industry, the most vital moment that seemed right out of the movies was Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, returning to the stage curtsy of Travis Scott to start it all last year.
While the self-anointed disciple lavishes his mentor Ye with praise, make no mistake, he is not about to sit out the competition, or even beat his mentor in one.

In the rat race that is being the top streamed artist, the results have always proven to be quite unexpected. This could not be any truer for Ye and Travis Scott, as the latter left Ye behind to become the third most-streamed rapper of all time. While the Atlanta rapper’s recent back and forth with streamers may have played a part in this, the results owing to Scott’s successful domination would more or less have remained the same.
Scott found himself on the ninth spot in a list that included Drake, Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Eminem, and Ariana Grande in chronological order. While the rapper secured 49,351.5 streams, Ye was not far behind with a 48,383.3 score.
Despite the turning of the tables, Ye and Travis Scott’s standing on the most streamed artists is not the most shocking bit, especially as Drake remains on the top.

A very wise Ye had implied long ago that Drake had the recipe to make the most streamable tracks down to the T. As the list of the most streamed artists was released and Drake stood proudly on the top, fans could not help but gaze in both awe and shock. After all, given the year that he has had, Drake was not expected to be anywhere near such a high record.
Kendrick Lamar may have unleashed a diss track sharp enough to cut through the collective pride of Drake’s most ardent followers, but even that could not topple the ‘God’s Plan’ artist from his lofty perch. The tables, it seems, remain mostly upright. Still, with Lamar back in the studio, the race is not over just yet, and the same can be said for the complicated pas de deux between Ye and Travis Scott.
