Auckland University remains the clear frontrunner as the country’s top university, in the latest international rankings.
The QS World University Rankings for 2025 have been released and the University of Auckland has risen to 65 – its highest placing in more than a decade and the only New Zealand university to make it into the top 100.
The university ranked 68 last year.
Auckland University also rose to 5 in sustainability rankings for 2024. The university was 10th in the world for sustainability in 2023, the first year the measurement was recorded.
University of Auckland Vice-Chancellor Professor Dawn Freshwater said the rankings were a proud achievement for all staff and students.
“We are focused on nurturing the next generation of leaders, innovators and changemakers. We want to ensure our graduates are equipped to make meaningful contributions to a rapidly changing society,” she said in a statement.
