SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Texas women’s basketball point guard Rori Harmon has been named a top-10 finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced today.
Now in its 26th year, the Nancy Lieberman Award recognizes the top point guard in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball. To be considered for this prestigious award, candidates must exhibit the floor leadership, playmaking, and ball-handling skills of Class of 1996 Hall-of-Famer Nancy Lieberman.
After playing 12 games in the 2023-24 season due to a season-ending knee injury, Harmon is showing why is one of the best players in the country. Harmon ranks third in the country in assist to turnover ratio (3.45), fourth in total assists (152) and seventh in assists per game (6.3).
Earlier this season, Harmon passed 1,000 career points and 600 career assists, becoming only the second player in school history to reach both of those milestones. Harmon joined Terri Mackey (1980-83) on that elite list. Harmon currently ranks second in UT women’s basketball history in career assists with 653.
Harmon is 32 points away from becoming the first player in UT women’s basketball history to reach 1,200 points and 600 assists.
Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting in both of the remaining rounds starting on Friday, February 7, on hoophallawards.com. The Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.
In March, the Top 10 list will be narrowed to just five, and in late March, the five finalists will be presented to Cousy, Lieberman, and the Hall of Fame’s selection committees, where winners will be selected. The Selection Committees for the Bob Cousy and Nancy Lieberman Awards are composed of top men’s and women’s college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers.
The winners of the 2025 Cousy and Lieberman Awards will be presented on a to-be-determined date, along with the four other members of the Men’s and Women’s Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Jerry West and Ann Meyers Drysdale Awards (Shooting Guard), Julius Erving and Cheryl Miller Awards (Small Forward), Karl Malone and Katrina McClain Awards (Power Forward), and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Lisa Leslie Awards (Center).
