The Indian Premier League (IPL) is currently in its 17th year in 2024. The world’s most popular franchise cricket league keeps improving with every passing season.
The inaugural IPL was in 2008 and was won by Rajasthan Royals (RR), but they have failed to win a single title since then.
In 2023, the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) took on the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final, with the latter winning their fifth IPL title, a record they share with their biggest rivals, Mumbai Indians (MI).
The Sporting News takes an early look at the odds for each team to win IPL 2024.

According to Dafabet, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders are the joint favourites to win IPL 2024.
RR have won eight out of 10 matches and Sanju Samson’s side have been in great form, with the likes of Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal coming to the fore. Even the recent loss to SRH has not dented their chances.
KKR, fresh off a dominating win over LSG, are also in scintillating form and have climbed to the top of the table.
CSK have been great at home but poor away from home. However, a recent away win to PBKS has meant they are still among the favourties.
SRH, led by Pat Cummins, are also in the mix despite a mid-season blip along with Lucknow Super Giants.
The rest of the teams are all outsiders to win the tournament including Virat Kohli’s RCB. Their recent upturn in form has given them a new lease of life but they need huge luck to win the IPL.
Gujarat Titans are also not among the favourites to win the IPL this time around.
MI are essentially out of the qualification race.
