As per the Fortune India list, he tops the chart with a tax of Rs 66 crore, and interestingly, his teammate, Rohit Sharma, who is one of the highest earners in the Indian team, doesn’t even make it to the top 5.
The former India captain sits on the fifth position in the tax-payers list, with Shah Rukh Khan topping the charts followed by Tamil actor, Vijay, Salman Khan, and then Amitabh Bachchan, who paid Rs 92 crore, 80 crore, 75 crore, and 71 crore respectively.
The other notable Indian cricketers in the list include former captain, MS Dhoni, with Rs 38 crore tax, Sachin Tendulkar, who pays 28 crore, and Hardik Pandya, who pays 13 crore tax.
Former India captain and BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly also makes the list, with a tax payment of Rs 23 crore.
Currently in London, Kohli will be next seen in action against Bangladesh in a two-match Test series.
He last played for India during the ODI series against Sri Lanka, and it was forgettable outings as the star batter was trapped lbw in all three matches for low-scores. He would look to keep the past demons behind and will be looking to score runs in the next assignment.
