Briles flirted with a triple-double Tuesday, recording 30 points, 10 steals and eight rebounds in a 43-26 victory against Northside.
Dunn partnered with Greyson Elledge to combine for 47 points in Petrolia’s 89-43 victory against Prairie Valley. Dunn bested Elledge by a single point, scoring 24 to Elledge’s 23.
Meekins was in fine form vs. Newcastle, pitting the area’s two state tournament qualifiers from last season against each other. Nocona defeated the reigning Class A champions, 49-39, and Meekins scored a game-high 24 points. Her future teammate at Lubbock Christian University, Newcastle’s Mattie Dollar, had a team-best 14 points.
Iowa Park came away with the 61-48 victory over the Trojans, but Stark scored a game-high 23 points. Andrew McClain led Iowa Park with 14 points.
Cervantes dropped a game-high 22 points along with an incredible 16 steals in a 46-21 victory against S&S Consolidated.
The Indians couldn’t slow down No. 10 Seymour in a 66-53 loss, but Dixon was the game’s high scorer with 21 points. Seymour had four players reach double figures; Hagan Anderson led with 18.
Jefferson continues to put the ball in the bucket at a high rate, scoring a game-high 21 points in a 64-49 victory against District 7-3A rival Holliday.
Johnson had 19 points, and the Mavericks got an impressive 68-39 victory against Vernon.
McBride helped get Vernon off to a strong start in District 7-3A action, scoring 19 points in a 45-31 victory against Jacksboro.
Five Lady Bulldogs scored in double figures, but Fields led the way with 18, sparking Burkburnett to a convincing 89-28 victory against Eagle Mountain to open District 7-4A play.
In a battle of Class 3A state-ranked opponents, No. 16 Paradise outlasted No. 14 Holliday for a 49-44 victory in overtime. Berry led Holliday with 15 points.
Lands had an impressive double-double performance in Petrolia’s 44-18 victory against Prairie Valley with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
