World number one Iga Swiatek has withdrawn from the Korea Open due to fatigue, according to the tournament organizers. In another setback to the WTA 500 event in Seoul, the defending champion Jessica Pegula has also pulled out due to a rib injury.
Swiatek, who won the French Open in June and secured a bronze medal in the Paris Olympics, had previously withdrawn from the Canadian Open last month, also citing fatigue.She reached the quarter-finals in the U.S. Open but lost to Pegula.
In other withdrawals, Elena Rybakina, former Wimbledon champion and currently world number four, will miss the Korea Open because of a back injury.
Emma Navarro, a U.S. Open semi-finalist, has pulled out due to a change in her schedule.
The Korea Open is scheduled to take place from September 16-22.
