Fridays are for Five Lists of Five! Dan Johnson runs through his top five wide receivers due for breakouts in this weekend’s games, including Davante Adams.
Fridays are for Five lists of Five, baby. Let’s get you set for Week 7 with receivers due to boom.
Because, honestly—all I want is for you to be better than your friends. You’re going to be surrounded by them on Sunday, probably. How sweet would it be if you could be sure you’ve checked every box possible that might guarantee you a resounding victory this week? Some kick-your-feet-up insights? I’ve got some.
I know my audience. The smoke-break audience. The quick-scan-of-the-phone-on-the-way-to-the-fridge audience. The give-me-as-much-info-as-possible-as-fast-as-possible audience. I’m a man of the people.
And so: the Five Lists of Five series. Think of these as byte-sized, two-minutes-to-yourself lists to scan during your weekend as you foam at the mouth for any competitive fantasy edge. As much relevant analysis as I can fit into, like, 250 words per player.
Keeping it rolling this week with five wide receivers due for breakout games in NFL Week 7.

Time for lift-off.
Season’s on the line for the Rams. Era, really, might be on the line. Stafford and Kupp are becoming too financially onerous for this Rams team, and if they go to 1-6, it’s all over.
The Rams in 2023 had a dismal second-half of the season, only to go on an absolute tear and nearly run the table for the rest of the season. They’ll need to do that this year, too, and they’ll be down Puka Nacua until at least November.
Whittington is going to go nuts this week regardless of whether or not Cooper Kupp (ankle) returns to the lineup. I think he’ll likely post better numbers if Kupp does play. But McVay and Stafford have Whittington out there running the Puka Nacua routes. I break it down as much in this article, here.
An excerpt (but, again, read the article if you want the statistical visuals):
All these numbers suggest elite production, and it’s been among the best the past two weeks. Whittington ranks eighth-overall among receivers with at least fifteen targets across Weeks 4 and 5 in EPA/target with a score of 0.44. That’s among the likes of Nico Collins, Drake London, Josh Downs, and Chris Godwin.
Those are some impressive names, and the Whittington window is closing fast.
Sean McVay has Jordan Whittington out there running routes like he wants Whittington to dance the Black Swan. He’s a must-stash on your bench for the rest of the season. A potential WR2-range finish is in store, depending on Puka’s health.
Make no mistake: the Rams have big plans for Whittington. It’s clear as day, laid out in data and graphs above. Go get him.
Another rookie receiver who calls SoFi home! He’s on my buy-low list this week, too, so I won’t go bonkers with the analysis here. But McConkey is uber-talented, great after the catch, and has gained the trust of Justin Herbert in high-leverage situations.
Ladd left the game last week against the Broncos a few times—once to be evaluated for a concussion, the other after a vicious hit that might have affected his hip’s integrity this week—and has only practiced in a limited fashion so far.
But if he’s good to go against the Cardinals on Monday Night Football, you start him in DFS and at FLEX in season-long. Trust me.
Robinson’s targets in his last four games: eight, 14, nine, 11. Nabers was out for two of those games. But only for two.
I’m on him to get double-digit targets again this week with Malik Nabers back against a suspect Eagles secondary. Robinson will find the end zone on one of his receptions this week.. It’s just time.
Hence the featured image. You feel me?
There’s too much ballyhoo around this game for Adams to not shine in primetime. I doubt Rodgers will force-feed him, but there’s no way Davante doesn’t find some of the soft spots in the Steelers’ zone coverages that he and Rodgers used to exploit in Green Bay.
Never, ever bet against Davante Adams on primetime when you’re facing against him in fantasy football, as I am. The Jets will win on Sunday night, and Davante will be good for at least one score.
The matchup with the Falcons means Metcalf will likely get A.J. Terrell in coverage most of the afternoon. We’re fine with that. Geno is slinging the ball like he’s back at West Virginia University, and Metcalf is the featured dish at the Seahawks wideout buffet.
He’s going to have a game on Sunday that looks a lot like his game against the Patriots in Week 2: ten receptions on 14 targets for 129 yards and a touchdown.
