We’re back again with our top five luxury properties of the week, and as always, it’s a celestial line-up.
Our list this Wednesday spotlights a couple of our favourite retreats, including Lake District suites with hot tubs and an Alpine hideaway without any TVs.
For travellers who want a tad more glitz on vacation, we’ve added a 16th-century palace in Rome and an historic Rosewood Hotel just steps from downtown Vancouver’s shopping district. We also have a London property with a rose terrace (yes, you heard that right) that’ll have you wishing for an endless summer.
Hopefully, they’ll give you the inspiration you need to make that special booking for your client – or maybe even yourself.
If you’re in need of a childfree holiday after the busy summer term, this one’s for you.
Nestled on the Windermere shores of the Lake District, Storrs Hall’s adults-only lakeside suites are perfect for a self-care getaway or lavish couples’ retreat. All six suites include a Japanese-style cedar wood hot tub, super king beds, free-standing baths and chaise lounges. For dining, guests can head to the new bistro or the Lake Edge Restaurant at the main house, or order room service to enjoy on their private terrace.
The suites “Tern” and “Teal” have also been designed for guests with limited mobility, with support rails, more space and access to parking.
Rosewood Hotel Georgia is open once again following a five-month-long renovation, which included the reimagining of its accommodation and culinary offerings. Situated in the heart of downtown Vancouver, this restored property features 156 guest rooms and suites, a garden terrace and a 1920s lobby lounge. Its signature spa boasts an indoor saltwater lap pool, while its restaurant, Hawksworth, serves up Canadian cuisine in a sophisticated dining room.
Travellers needing a digital detox will delight in Eriro, a breathtaking property in the Austrian Alps that’s so high above the ground it’s only accessible by cable car. Situated at the foot of the Zugspitze mountain range, all nine suites are devoid of TVs to allow guests to truly appreciate the views, while balconies have been fitted with cushy daybeds for sunbathing and stargazing. More relaxation awaits at the spa, which features a meditation pool, a Finnish sauna, and a treatment menu inspired by local herbs.
Formerly a 16th-century palace, Palazzo Talia has re-opened as a boutique hotel with 26 guest rooms after an extensive restoration. Situated in Trevi, its most luxurious accommodation is the Talia Suite, which can host up to six adults and two children across 250 square metres. On the ground floor, the romantic Tramae restaurant serves traditional Roman recipes created by head chef Marco Coppola, while post-dinner drinks can be enjoyed under the grotesque-frescoed ceilings of Bar Della Musa.
The Cadogan in London has teamed up with Chateau d’Esclans to launch a rose terrace on its private balcony, as part of a special summer partnership lasting until 27 September.
Guests at the Belmond Hotel, which is located on Chelsea’s fashionable Sloane Street, will be treated to exclusive pourings of the pink-hued wine, including Garrus, which is considered to be the most exclusive rose in the world. Glasses will be paired with a new small plates menu of southern France inspired dishes, such as lamb soldiers with goats cheese and black olive tapenade on toast.
