Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball coach Kenny Brooks picked up a major recruiting victory today, landing 5-star prospect Kaelyn Carroll.
Carroll, from Massachusetts, is the first commitment for the Wildcats in the 2025 class and represents a big win for Brooks on the recruiting trail.
Carroll is ranked as high as 15th overall in the 2025 class by ESPN. She picked the Cats over South Carolina, North Carolina, Ohio State, and Minnesota, among others.
At 6-foot-3, Carroll is a wing with a ton of versatility and the ability to consistently knock down shots from deep.
An article from the New England Basketball Journal over the summer noted Carroll models her game after New York Liberty superstar Breanna Stewart, a 2x WNBA MVP and WNBA Finals MVP.
The 6-foot-3 rising senior at Tabor will casually step back and bury 3-pointers, cross over into a hard-charging drive, or spin around opponents for layups.
247 Sports’s Brandon Clay gave this scouting report of Carroll:
Carroll’s size and length make her a coveted recruit from coast to coast. Though she possesses a vastly different skill set, Carroll offers the same elite-level size and length at the 4 position that current South Carolina forward Chloe Kitts brought to the table all season for the national champions. Carroll boasts a consistent outside shot with legitimate range beyond the 3-point line. Her ability to space the basketball floor provides a myriad of usage options at the college level.
Definitely a big win for Kenny Brooks on the recruiting trail. It remains to be seen how many freshmen will be added to the class, as it seems Brooks will also be active in the transfer portal.
Carroll certainly has the potential to be a key contributor in Lexington.
