Alabama’s basketball program has their first commitment of the 2025 class in the fold.
Amari Allen, who hails from Green Bay, Wisconsin, announced his pledge to the Crimson Tide on Tuesday morning. His commitment comes just over a week after officially visiting with Nate Oats‘ program. That marked his first-ever trip to the school, but was enough to convince Allen that Tuscaloosa would be his future home.
“I love the culture and the relationship I have built with the coaching staff,” Allen told On3’s Joe Tipton of his decision. “They have the formula to get guys like me to the league and I trust them and think I can get there with them.”
Bama beat out a handful of schools to land Allen this week. The other finalists in his recruitment were Minnesota, Mississippi State, Nevada, UCF and, most notable, the in-state Wisconsin Badgers.
“The consistency and relationship I have built with them,” Allen told Tipton of Alabama. “Also being able to see them send multiple guys to the league that are like me shows that their formula works and I can trust them. They also came up to Green Bay the first day of in-house visits to visit me and my family. That meant a lot just showing me I was a priority.”
Per the On3 Industry Rankings, Allen is the No. 78 overall prospect in the Class of 2025. He also checks in as the No. 17 small forward and the second-ranked senior in the state of Wisconsin, behind Iowa State commit Jamarion Batemon. Allen is listed as a small forward, but is being recruited by Alabama as a combo guard.

Now at Ashwaubenon High School in Wisconsin, Allen previously played with IMG Academy. He was with Power 5 on the camp circuit during the offseason, where he says that he improved his shotmaking ability and ball handling.
This is a nice start to Alabama following a class in which they signed the No. 3 group in the country. That recruiting class featured top 25 recruits Aiden Sherrell and Derrion Reid, as well as Labaron Philon (No. 35) and Naas Cunningham (No. 48).
There are still some top targets in the 2025 class remaining, including fellow Wisconsin product Davion Hannah. Hannah officially visited Bama the same weekend as Allen (Aug. 31 – Sept. 1). Five-star point guard Mikel Brown and top 40 power forward London Jemison are a couple of prospects who have officially visited the program that are still in play.
