The Arkansas basketball roster is nearly complete as John Calipari has eight players for next season, and he has acknowledged he’s hoping to add one more big-time transfer target.
While some took Calipari’s words literally, and expected the Razorbacks to only have nine players total next season, the Hall of Fame coach clarified his roster plans this past week at the SEC Spring Meetings. His first nine additions to the roster will be major contributors and NIL earners, with the rest of roster spots given to traditional scholarship players who will need to earn their minutes and lucrative NIL deals.
So far, Calipari has added familiar faces from his time at Kentucky, which was to be expected. Three signees, forwards Zvonimir Ivisic, Adou Thiero and guard DJ Wagner played under Calipari last season at Kentucky. The three freshman signees, forward Karter Knox, guard Boogie Fland and forward Billy Richmond, were each previously committed to Kentucky before Calipari left.
The two biggest transfer signees so far were former Florida Atlantic guard Johnell Davis and former Tennessee transfer Jonas Aidoo. Both were rated as two of the best portal targets in this cycle and had no prior affiliation to Calipari at Kentucky.
Now, to round out his first roster in Fayetteville, Calipari is looking to make another splash in the portal. Arkansas currently has a major need in the front court, so here’s a closer look at the three names Calipari and the Hogs are most likely targeting to fill those needs.
