The Future of Travel is Here: TripAdvisor has just unveiled its first Trendcast report, diving deep into millions of reviews, bookings and conversations to uncover the latest travel trends and to predict how they are shaping the future of travel.
By analyzing search patterns, booking data and over one billion user-generated contributions, Trendcast highlights how people are looking to experience the world. From ‘Beauty Voyagers’ seeking unique wellness experiences to ‘Nano Neighborhood’ explorers immersing themselves in hyper-local adventures, here are some of the top trends defining the next era of travel, according to Tripadvisor.
“Beauty Voyagers”
Beauty-conscious travelers are jetting off for exclusive treatments they can’t find at home—from ancient rituals to cutting-edge skincare innovations. Mentions of skincare treatments in TripAdvisor forums have surged 87%, while bookings for beauty experiences have skyrocketed 400%.
“Time Tripping”
The rise of remote and hybrid work has redefined travel, making “work-cations” a mainstream reality. Travelers are maximizing their free time—booking off-peak experiences like sunrise tours of the Vatican or cycling tours through Kyoto after dark. Searches for “open late” and “24-hour” experiences have jumped 110% in the last year.
“Written in the Stars”
Mystical travel is also having a moment. Thanks to trends like WitchTok, more travelers are seeking out spiritual experiences—and they’re willing to go the distance. Searches for bookings related to astrology, tarot and full moon rituals have soared 500% over the past two years.
“Investigative Eating”
Food sustainability is a growing priority for travelers. Conversations around ethical dining are up 65%, and interest in farm-to-table experiences is booming. Attractions like farms and farmers’ markets are growing 1,400% faster than the broader food and drink category. Travelers are eager to learn where their food comes from and how it’s made.
“Nano Neighborhoods”
Rather than hitting the well-worn tourist paths, travelers are slowing down to explore a destination one street at a time. Instead of rushing between destinations, they’re immersing themselves in specific neighborhoods. Interest in neighborhood attraction pages on TripAdvisor is growing 134% faster than the average for attractions.
“Solo Social”
Solo travel continues its spike in popularity. But that doesn’t mean going it alone. More than one-third (36%) of solo travelers say meeting new people is a key motivation, and they’re 60% more likely to mention “making friends” in their reviews. The industry is responding, with solo-friendly cruise cabins and single-dining experiences popping up in hotspots around the world.
TripAdvisor’s Trendcast confirms that travel isn’t just about where you go, but how you experience it. Whether it’s through beauty, food, mysticism or deep local connections, the future of travel is all about personalization and purpose.
