KINGSTON, N.Y. — The Ulster County Tennis Tournament is underway with top-seeded Evan Ambrose advancing in men’s singles with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Russell Tencer on Sunday, July 14, at Forsyth Park.
No. 3 Bradley Hack defeated Justin Goldman 6-1, 6-2 in his first match in men’s singles at Kingston High.
Other winners in men’s singles were Jake Guralnick, Jay Han, Franz Kaisik, Nathan Clerici, Tyler Wood, Nick Kamen and Matteo Kinnicutt.
In men’s doubles, the top-seeded duo of Paul and Evan Ambrose won its first match over David Todd and David Miller, 6-2, 6-4.
The second-seeded men’s doubles team of Han and Guralnick also advanced with a 6-7 (6), 6-0, 6-0 win over Ryan Tate and Dustin Horvat.
Rick Lange and Kaisik advanced to a matchup with the top-seeded team with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Brian Spaith and Will Berkowitz.
Competition in the county tennis championship will continue this week. Competition will also take place in women’s singles and mixed doubles.
Winners are scheduled to be crowned in women’s singles and men’s doubles at Forsyth Park on Saturday, July 20, and in men’s singles and mixed doubles on Sunday, July 21, at Forsyth Park.
