Pittsburgh Steelers legend Troy Polamalu is one of the most gifted, most unique, and most talented players to ever grace a football field.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer finished his career as an eight-time Pro Bowl selection, a four-time All-Pro, the 2010 Defensive Player of the Year, and a two-time Super Bowl champion.
The Score continued their series of ranking the 25 best NFL players of the last 25 years, and Polamalu came in at No. 15.
“Some great safeties were ball hawks or heavy hitters, but Polamalu’s contributions don’t fit into one box,” Daniel Valente wrote. “He could do it all. Polamalu was an improviser who operated with the freedom to roam. He could be anywhere at any given moment: the back of the secondary, the flat, the middle of the field, or even the line of scrimmage. Quarterbacks had to scramble before the snap to locate and account for him… While other safeties shined in specific areas, Polamalu was a jack-of-all-trades unicorn whose skill set may never be replicated.”
Polamalu is easily a top five Steeler of all time, and he is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2020.
