The Wolverines are in desperate need for some wide receivers in the 2025 class, and it appears they are in front for one of the underrated players at the position in three-star Phillip Wright. Despite being ranked just No. 520 overall, he holds offers from big time schools like Michigan, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and more.
Wright visited Ann Arbor for the spring game and is now sharing his thoughts on that visit with On3’s Zach Libby ($).
“This visit was one of the best I’ve been on,” Wright said. “I loved the atmosphere and I loved how family oriented it was. All of the coaches want you to be successful at the end of the day in all aspects of life.”
A 5-foot-11, 160-pound speedster from Louisiana, Wright also runs track at Destrehan High School. He ran a 10.62 100-meter dash earlier this spring, and he brings that speed right to the gridiron at both wide receiver and returner.
A versatile playmaker with the ball in his hands, he is primarily being recruited by wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy, a coach he said he speaks with “almost every day,” and that it’s easy to talk with him since Bellamy is also from Louisiana.
After his visit, Wright admitted that, “Michigan is definitely on the top of my list.” He plans on returning for an official visit this summer, but the exact date has yet to be determined. The only official visit he has set up thus far is for Baylor the weekend of June 7.
New running backs coach Tony Alford is swinging for the fences in the 2026 class with four-star Savion Hiter. The No. 2 ranked running back and No. 33 overall player in his cycle, Hiter holds offers from college football’s elite programs. Ohio State appeared to be at the top of his list for a little while, but that may have changed now that Alford — a coach he has a really good relationship with — is at Michigan.
Hiter visited Ann Arbor earlier this month, and it seems to have left a lasting impression on the 5-foot-11, 182-pounder from Woodberry Forest, Virginia.
“My visit to Michigan was even better than I expected,” Hiter told On3’s Steve Wiltfong ($). “Everyone was so welcoming and the campus was really nice.
“It was crazy to see how organized everything is and how they hold everyone accountable. I had so many takeaways it’s hard to narrow it down to just a few.”
He wasn’t in Ann Arbor for long, but he still had quite a bit to take away from his experience.
“I learned a lot in the short time I was there,” Hiter said. “Literally everybody I came in contact with gave me an in depth talk about the school the culture, the team and their role there.”
This recruitment is still developing, but Michigan is in a good spot here. As long as Alford keeps going after him, the Wolverines should be in this one until the very end.
A great, surprising development happened on Saturday when 2025 four-star linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng shared a picture on his social media that he was on an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor.
In that same post, he said, “See you back in June for an OV!!!” This is certainly welcome news, as it indicates the unofficial visit went so well that he is going to set an official visit.
The 6-foot-0.5, 205-pounder, who plays at IMG Academy in Florida, released a top-13 list earlier this month that featured the Wolverines. It didn’t appear the Wolverines were very high on that list, but this news now may change things up.
He already has official visits lined up to South Carolina, Stanford and Georgia for the first two weekends in June, according to his 247Sports profile, so Michigan will likely be aiming for one of the final two weekends in June for his official visit.
Owusu-Boateng is the No. 9 linebacker and No. 69 overall prospect in the 2025 class.
