GIRLS BASKETBALL TOP 10
(Teams records through Sunday, Jan. 26.)
1. ST. JOSEPH (20-4)
The Jesters went 1-2 last week with losses to Corona Centennial and Mission Hills, which are both Division 1-level opponents. They are undefeated in the Camino Real League and could clinch an outright league title at home against Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary on Thursday.

2. LYNWOOD (13-13)
The Knights went 2-0 last week with big Gateway League wins over Mayfair and Paramount. Freshman guard Lunden Edwards is Lynwood’s leading scorer.

3. LONG BEACH POLY (17-5)
The Jackrabbits rise to No. 3 after a 56-39 win over No. 6 Lakewood on Friday. Seniors Joy Anderson and Nevaeh Lemons combined for 40 points to claim sole possession of first place in the Moore League with five league games to go. Poly is undefeated in the Moore League.

4. LOS ALAMITOS (17-6)
The Griffins have won 12 of their last 13 games, including a nonleague win over No. 6 Lakewood on Dec. 26.

5. PARAMOUNT (16-7)
The Pirates drop to No. 5 after a 51-31 loss at home to No. 2 Lynwood on Friday. It was the team’s second loss to Lynwood in Gateway League play.

6. LAKEWOOD (16-7)
Senior Nyemah King’s 31 points were not enough to upset Long Beach Poly for a share of the Moore League title. They are in second place in the Moore League and have a nonleague win over No. 7 Whitney on Nov. 22.

7. WHITNEY (19-7)
The Wildcats are undefeated in 605 League play. Senior forward Haylie Wang’s 45-point performance highlighted an 83-25 win against Artesia on Friday.

8. ST. ANTHONY (11-11)
The Saints went 1-1 against Del Rey League rival La Salle last week. Senior guard Kadence Lloyd scored her 1,000th career point in a comeback win over La Salle on Saturday night. They will host Bishop Montgomery on Tuesday.

9. GAHR (15-8)
The Gladiators nearly beat No. 4 Paramount but came up just short with a 33-28 loss on Wednesday. They will play at Mayfair on Wednesday and Lynwood on Friday.

10. DOWNEY (13-12)
The Vikings went 3-0 with wins over Warren, Mayfair and Ramona last week. They will play at Lynwood on Wednesday and Paramount on Friday.
