The second leg of the Triple Crown is set for Saturday as eight horses will contest the Grade 1, $2 million Preakness Stakes, including Kentucky Derby 2024 winner Mystik Dan.
Muth was expected to be Mystik Dan’s main rival, but a fever forced him to be scratched on Wednesday. After being an 18-1 long shot in the Run for the Roses, Mystik Dan will be the hunted rather than the hunter in this spot.
The Preakness Stakes (G1) goes as the 13th race on a 14-race program at Pimlico, and post time is scheduled for 7:01 p.m. EDT. The race will be shown on NBC.

Ed DeRosa’s Preakness fair odds see Mystik Dan going off as a drastic underlay, and Imagination moves up in more ways than one after Muth withdrew. Tuscan Gold is a must-use in DeRosa’s eyes, too.
DeRosa also took a look at who moves up if the Preakness comes up wet.
Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman handicapped the Preakness Stakes in the latest edition of HorseCenter, and Shifman also provided his full Preakness Stakes analysis.
Padraic Manocchio ranked the Preakness field from first to last, and recommended three runners to target on the Preakness undercard.
Mark Midland gave out his picks for the first leg of the inaugural Grand 3 Challenge, and he thinks Tuscan Gold is the right horse to use on top.
Mystik Dan trainer Ken McPeek and co-owner Sharilyn Gasaway joined the Ron Flatter Racing Pod to discuss their Kentucky Derby win and look ahead to the Preakness Stakes.
