In addition to being one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Los Angeles Lakers star and NBA legend LeBron James is now being recognized as one of the top Madden NFL 25 players in the world as well.
On Saturday, James made a post on his Instagram Stories showing that he is now among the top-100 ranked Madden players:
James played high school football and has long made his gridiron fandom known, rooting for Ohio State collegiately, and both the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys in the NFL, although he said last year that he is no longer a Cowboys fan.
Madden 25 officially released on Aug. 16, which was just days after James helped lead Team USA to a gold medal in men’s basketball at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Although LeBron has undoubtedly been preparing himself for the 2024-25 NBA regular season since then, he has also had some free time to work on his Madden game and move up the rankings.
However, now that the Lakers’ preseason is over, it will soon be time to shift into regular-season mode.
The Lakers will play their regular-season opener Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and it is fair to wonder if James will have the time to maintain his Madden ranking from that point forward.
Even if he doesn’t, cracking the top 100 is a huge accomplishment given that many of the top-ranked Madden players play the game for a living and invest all of their time, energy and resources into it.
That isn’t the case for James, who just so happens to be a 20-time NBA All-Star, four-time NBA champion, four-time NBA MVP, four-time NBA Finals MVP and the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
Also, despite the fact that he will turn 40 in December, James is still playing at an elite level. He was the FIBA MVP at the Olympics, and he averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists and 7.3 rebounds per game in the NBA last season.
If LeBron’s success at the Olympics and in Madden is any indication, he could be poised for another huge year in the NBA with the Lakers in 2024-25.
