Despite losing by double digits at home to its biggest rival, the Michigan men’s basketball team is still in the top-15 in the AP Poll. In fact, the Wolverines are ranked right at No. 15, three spots lower from where they were a week ago. Additionally, the Wolverines are ranked No. 13 in USA Today’s Coaches Poll.
The Wolverines are the third-highest Big Ten team in this week’s poll, behind Michigan State (No. 8) and Wisconsin (No. 11), and ahead of Maryland (No. 16) and Purdue (No. 20).
Michigan lost its lone game last week falling in Dusty May’s first Michigan State game, 75-62. The Wolverines looked real good in the first half, but the offense completely fell apart in the second half en route to that loss.
Selection Sunday is 20 days away — man, the college basketball season goes by fast — and ahead of tonight’s game at Nebraska, the Wolverines are projected to be a four-seed on the Bracket Matrix, which aggregates bracketology from analysts across the country.
While Michigan is firmly in the NCAA Tournament and are somewhere on the 3-5 seed line, this is a key week for the Wolverines when it comes to the Big Ten title race.
