Both Michigan basketball teams made small movements in Monday’s AP Top 25 poll.
The Michigan men dropped one spot to No. 21. Since last week’s poll, they lost at Minnesota on Thursday and beat Northwestern at home on Sunday.
The loss to Minnesota, 84-81, came on a buzzer-beater in overtime. It gave Minnesota its first Big Ten win in seven tries. Michigan was tested in overtime again on Sunday and came out victorious against Northwestern 80-76.
Michigan (14-4 overall, 6-1 in the Big Ten) visits Purdue, which moved up six spots to No. 11 in Monday’s rankings, on Friday.
The Wolverine women returned to the poll at No. 24. They were one spot outside of the poll last week after six straight weeks of being ranked. Michigan climbed back in by beating Washington on Wednesday (82-69) and Rutgers on Saturday (87-71), both at home.
The Wolverines’ (13-5, 4-3) schedule gets tougher this week. They. visit No. 23 Minnesota on Wednesday and host No. 21 Michigan State on Saturday at Crisler Center.
