NASHVILLE, Tenn.–The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) reports a man assaulted in the Top Golf parking lot has died from his injuries.

Police say 41-year-old Dahal Umesh was at the Cowan Street location on Saturday night with others attending a concert at the venue’s lower level when a dispute took place and spilled into the parking lot. Umesh was reportedly trying to diffuse the dispute when he was punched, causing him to fall and hit his head on the concrete. He was then kicked in the head while on the ground.

Detectives identified 26-year-old Bishal Rai as the man accused of kicking Umesh in the head and have arrested him for aggravated assault. The charge will be upgraded to criminal homicide as a result of the victim’s death from his injuries. Rai is being held without bond pending his hearing and the investigation continues into others who were involved in the assault.
