Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what an NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
Lightly raced point winners Peaky Boy (second choice) and Leader In The Park are very interesting chasing newcomers, but preference is for PRIMOZ, who impressed on last month’s chase debut at Wetherby, and that form has been franked. Westerninthepark is another who is one from one in this sphere and could have plenty more to offer.
No horse comes here in better form than Londonofficecallin after two wins on the Flat, and he is very intriguing off bottom-weight. Cases can be made for loads of these. Recent winners D Art D Art and Newtown Rambler are high among them.
Handicap debutant Fenway Park and recent Punchestown runner-up Sundial are much respected, too. The selection is SA FUREUR, a Grade 3-winning novice hurdler back over flights after a decent novice chase campaign. He will be hard to beat if fit enough.
The intriguing runner is GLIMPSE OF GALA. Although light on chasing experience, it was a commendable effort in a mares’ chase at Worcester and all the more so as 2m4f would have been on the sharp side. Musical Slave is no certainty to follow one good run with another, but River Tyne makes plenty of appeal off her featherweight, and Unanswered Prayers, Whydah Gally, and Hauraki Gulf should all have some say.
The very lightly raced 8-year-old HYMAC won in a big field over 3m4f here in April, and there’s plenty to like about his claims today, despite being 3lb out of the handicap. Manothepeople enjoyed a progressive campaign last season, including a win here, and he is feared most ahead of Ballygrifincottage for whom today’s trip could be ideal. 2022 winner Does He Know has an excellent record at Cheltenham and is another to consider along with the 7yos Abuffalosoldier and Surrey Quest.
