Revenge games always ignite a little extra excitement in fans every NFL season, and the Las Vegas Raiders have a handful of them on their 2024 schedule to talk about.
Whether it be a player facing off against their former team or two bitter rivals squaring off, revenge games are always can’t-miss television. You can bet that players look forward to their opportunity to burn their former team, also.
With all that in mind, here’s a look at the games on the Raiders’ 2024 schedule that have the best revenge storylines. Two of them feature games against division rivals while another will see the Raiders reuniting with a very notable former player.
Both teams have multiple revenge storylines in this matchup to begin the season. The Chargers will be looking to erase the demons from the embarrassing 42-point loss they suffered in Vegas last year that led to the firing of head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco.
Speaking of Telesco, he’s now the Raiders’ GM and will have extra motivation to defeat his former team to open the 2024 campaign.
The Raiders have an eight-game winning streak versus the Broncos dating back to 2020. Additionally, Denver has a 4-12 record against Las Vegas since Peyton Manning retired in 2016.
The Raiders will look to continue their dominance against their division rival in 2024, while the Broncos will work to defeat the Silver & Black for the first time in four years.
Defensive tackle Christian Wilkins signed a four-year, $110 million deal with the Raiders this offseason after spending the first five years of his career with the Dolphins. Wilkins brings much-needed pass-rushing and run-stuffing ability to Vegas’ defensive line and gives Maxx Crosby a talented running mate on the interior.
The 28-year-old will be hungry for revenge against his former team, as Miami decided not to give him a long-term contract extension after his impressive 2023 campaign. The former Clemson Tiger posted nine sacks and 58 quarterback pressures last year.
This one needs no explanation.
Derek Carr will face off against his former team for the first time since being released during the 2023 offseason. Carr led the Raiders to two playoff appearances during his nine-year tenure and was selected to four Pro Bowls.
With how things ended in Vegas, Carr definitely has this game circled on his calendar, and he even joked that he was going to bait Crosby into getting a penalty.
