With the Kentucky high school boys basketball playoffs fast approaching, the teams continue to fight for a strong finish. In that case, the top 25 teams in the Kentucky On3 Composite Team Rankings have the best shot at entering the playoffs. Here are the state’s best squads, including three among the nationwide top 100.

It includes Massey, Max Preps, Cal Preps, ESPN, and SI, creating the most comprehensive and geographically balanced High School Team Ranking.
The Tigers extended their winning streak to 14 games after an 86-73 victory over Ryle. Four St. Xavier players finished with double-digit points, led by Chief Cameron and Jeremiah Jackson with 15 points each. Chance Dillingham added 14 points, while Will Hanke finished with 11. The country’s 47th-best team will try to get their 26th win this season when they face North Oldham on February 21.
The Warhawks extend their winning streak to 17 games after a 20-point victory against Walton-Verona. Malachi Moreno had a super game, finishing with 24 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, and five blocks. Vince Dawson contributed 16 points, eight rebounds, and five steals, while LJ Holman added 12 points. The 62nd-best team in the nation will proceed to their February 21 match against Madison Southern.
While their loss to Henry Clay snapped a 14-game winning streak, the Broncos bounced back with an 85-64 win over Sayre. That victory improved Frederick Douglass’ record to 20-3 before facing Tates Creek on February 21.
The Colonels are still Kentucky high school boys basketball’s fourth-best team despite their loss to Archbishop Moeller. While that defeat handed them their eighth loss this season, they still have 20 wins this season. Covington Catholic can add to that total by defeating Madison Central on February 21.
The Defenders are on a three-game winning streak after a 91-71 victory over Grant County. That result also improved their record to 22-5 before facing Woodford County on February 21. Four days later, Bryan Station will close the regular season against Henry Clay.
The Marshals have a near-perfect record, losing only one out of 27 games in this high school boys basketball season. After suffering a defeat against Calloway County, they have won three consecutive games, with Mt. Vernon as their latest victim. Marshall County will face Caldwell County to close the regular season.
The Dragons have pulled off some close wins. After a six-point win against Warren East last February 11, they had a two-point win against Adair County on February 20. Warren Central is up to 22-4 for the season before they face North Hardin on the 21st and Greenwood on the 25th.
After losing to Frederick Douglass on the first day of February, the Crimsons are on a four-game winning streak. Their last game was an 80-49 win over Shawnee, marking the fourth-fewest points they’ve allowed this season. Next on their schedule are the Male Bulldogs (February 21) and the Butler Bears (February 22).
The Cardinals earned their 23rd win of the season by defeating Western Hills 78-73. It’s their third consecutive victory after losing to Great Crossing and 11th in the last 12 games. George Rogers Clark will face Scott County on February 21 to finish the 2024-25 Kentucky high school boys basketball regular season.
The Jaguars completed a 61-52 victory over Dixie Heights, improving their record to 18-5. They have won their last three games after losing to Walton-Verona on February 8. Cooper will clash with Boone County on February 26 before heading to the playoffs.
