Joe Root and Harry Brook came together in Multan in England’s first Test of the three-match series against Pakistan and stitched a massive 454-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
The duo came together after losing Ben Duckett as the third wicket at 249 on day 3 and thanks to the double centuries for both Root and Brook, England also breached the 700-run mark against the hosts, as it stands after Lunch on Day 4 of the Test.
And given the rate they are batting, they are sure to add much more to that partnership. Let’s take a look at the biggest Test partnerships and see if the English duo can make history.

With this 454 partnership, they have beaten Peter May and Colin Cowdrey’s record English partnership of 411 runs for the fourth wicket against West Indies in Birmingham in 1957.
With the English record in the bag, they sit 4th in the list of the biggest partnerships in Test history.
The highest Test partnership ever belongs to Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene who put together a mammoth 624 runs together against South Africa in 2006 at Colombo.
