The IPL 2025 will feature 10 franchises, as two more teams were added in the 2022 season. After the completion of the three-year cycle, the upcoming season will have another IPL mega auction.
This time, the overall purse made available to all the 10 teams has been increased to Rs. 120 crore. The minimum base price of the players has also been increased to Rs. 30 lacs from the previous Rs. 20 lacs.
What IPL can do as far as salaries of players are concerned?
All teams are permitted to make a maximum of six retentions (with a maximum of five capped and maximum of two uncapped players). So, going into the auction, the purse remaining for each of the teams would vary according to the number of retentions made and the capped or uncapped status of the retained players.
