The latest update to the rankings came on Wednesday, October 2. Jaiswal had moved into fifth place among Test batters at the end of the first India-Bangladesh Test in Chennai, and his performance in the second Test in Kanpur has seen him rise to third, with a career-best rating of 792.
Jaiswal struck two half-centuries, 72 & 51, in Kanpur as India unleashed the full force of their batting lineup on Bangladesh in an effort to force a result in a match which had seen two days lost due to poor weather and ground conditions.
