Four last-time-out winners should provide an informative race. Not much went right for BALLYGUNNER CASTLE at Fairyhouse and his winning performance can be upgraded to earn selection over stablemate C’Est Ta Chance and the promising Casheldale Lad.
Henry de Bromhead’s FORTY COATS chased home Wingmen over C&D on his return and the form of his Punchestown second has also worked out well. JP McManus purchased Kainsbourg for 355,000euros after winning twice in France and he rates as the main danger. Did I Ask You That and Bossofthebrownies aren’t out of things either.
Set some stiff tasks in his career, NO LOOKING BACK can strike on his handicap debut stepping back up in trip. Barry Lyndon loves decent ground and has to be respected with the weather forecast in his favour, while Any Road has a solid each-way chance if he can get away on terms this time. Music Of Tara, Lord Erskine and Koori Star are others to consider in a wide-open affair.
Two solid handicap runs at 2m give COLLABORATIVE a fighting chance if he can improve a little over this longer trip. Duffys Hodey, who reeled in a strong pace-setter at Fairyhouse on Thursday, has matured into a reliable sort and has to be taken seriously despite the penalty. Jonny Mansie can feature if brushing up his jumping following an otherwise encouraging run earlier in the week. The four-year-old Lakota Blue is also interesting.
A good opportunity for THREE CARD BRAG (nap) who was a smart novice last season and can put his experience to good use against a Willie Mullins-trained quartet. Olympic Man looks best of that group, providing he jumps better than at Punchestown. Loughglynn and Kinturk Kalanisi may be involved for place money.
Not many of these inspire confidence. It may be worth taking a chance with HE FITZ IN, whose recent hurdles form is mildly encouraging. Perhaps this rise in distance will elicit improvement from A Great Buzz. Tangental is on a tempting mark but has been expensive to follow. Cullenwaine, who has the merit of winning form this season, might prefer better ground.
Dream Diamond sets a high bar after running Kel Histoire close at Cork last month and will have plenty of supporters with Patrick Mullins booked for the ride. However, the yard hasn’t had a winner since April 2023 which is a concern. Sine Qua Non was probably flattered by his demolition job in a two-finisher point-to-point, but impressive Ballyknock point-to-point winner SPINNINGAYARN gets the vote on debut for Gordon Elliott. Eachtotheirown is worth a market check.
