Add 156 yards. All of these would have a chance if putting their best foot forward. THE QUESTIONER is on his winning chase mark and should appreciate this return to fences.
There are some ground concerns about Percy Veering so the danger could be Basford, a chaser with more to offer.
The form of WELLINGTON ARCH‘s second here has been handed a significant boost by the smart winner and he should be hard to beat. However, Indemnity didn’t shape at all badly in a useful race at Kempton and he could easily be more amenable to restraint in a first-time hood.
The others have to step up by a long way.
A trappy maiden in which marginal preference is for MOONSET who looked stretched by 2m7f on his hurdling debut. Ilestdancingspirit has a long absence to overcome, but he’ll be very competitive if in the same form as when he was last seen. Lady Kluck, Idaho Valley and Mohawk Chief have chances.
Add 156 yards. Cartonne was never going to keep up the gallop over a marathon trip at Musselburgh and this front-runner is respected at this distance.
Realisation (second choice) should find this easier than Cheltenham last time, but HOLD UP LA COLMINE was running really well until the meeting interference at Windsor, compensation may await.
This is competitive, with recent winners Shengai Enki (second choice) and Nollyador firmly in contention, for all that the latter’s win at Hereford wasn’t much of a race.
Balcomie Breeze, Glen Road and Sailed Away are others in the mix, but THE BLUEBERRY ONE is taken to go one better than when made favourite for his first handicap.
Add 78 yards. This should be run at a good clip, with Alto Alto and Homme d’Un Soir likely to head out in front. Both would have chances should they not get too competitive too far out.
DENEMETHY will enjoy having a solid pace to chase and he’s made a good start to his chase career.
God’s Own Getaway and Rumoursareflying are by no means dismissed either.
Another competitive handicap. CARRIGMOORNA ROWAN (nap) has been off since last July when he failed to deal with Cartmel’s tight turns, but breaks are a feature in his profile and he is Harry Fry’s only runner on the card.
He appeals as a horse with more to offer. Jubilant has to deal with a 10lb rise, and Coastal Rock needs to prove that he doesn’t have to go left-handed. Perhaps Belvedere Blast will prove most troublesome on a course he clearly enjoys.
