Tennis power couple Anastasia Potapova and Alexander Shevchenko appear to have called time on their relationship – less than a year after tying the knot.
Russian WTA star Potapova and ATP ace Shevchenko – who switched from representing Russia to Kazakhstan earlier this season – married in December last year, after announcing their engagement last September.
The two have been in a relationship since 2022 though it now seems things between the two have concluded.
Fans noticed yesterday that Potapova, 23, had deleted all Instagram posts that had previously featured Shevchenko, as well as unfollowing the Kazakh on the app.
It now seems that Shevchenko, also 23, has unfollowed Potapova on the app, though still currently follows a fan page dedicated to the WTA star.
Speaking earlier in 2024, current world No 38 Potapova – who has been as high as 21st in the world – spoke about feeling settled in her marriage.
“I’ve known him since we were nine years old, but we never spent time together, hung out, or even spoke much,” she said to Tennis.com. “It was like we were always so close to each other but also so far away!
“Maybe we’re young to be married, but we’re also athletes and we’re more mature than other people are at this age, people who don’t do sports.

“I do think since getting married, there’s more of a calm in our relationship, where we have each other, we’re not rushing for anything and we just try to help each other perform our best.
“It’s really helpful for an athlete to find someone who can relate to what you’re doing.”
Tennis power couples have attracted growing attention in recent years, with a spate of high-profile relationships across the ATP and WTA.
The high-publicised relationship between Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas is frequently in the headlines, as is now the relationship between ATP No 1 Jannik Sinner and Anna Kalinskaya.
Matteo Berrettini and Ajla Tomljanovic’s relationship was high-profile until they split in 2022, while other high-profile relationships on tour currently include Denis Shapovalov and Mirjam Bjorklund, and Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils.
Potapova and Shevchenko also had a growing status in the game through their relationship, with the two taking part in a Roman Holiday-inspired photoshoot at the Italian Open in May.
However, while the news has not yet been confirmed, it would appear that the two have gone their separate ways.
