Gonzaga Bulldogs shines above Baylor Bears in a recent college basketball match on Monday. The team reached in their season opener for 2024-25, Gonzaga dominated No. 8 Baylor with a stunning 101-63 victory. Five Bulldogs scored in double figures, with senior guard Nolan Hickman leading the way with 17 points and six rebounds. He contributed three of the team’s 13 three-pointers. Khalif Battle also made an impact adding 12 points to the scoreboard.

The Bulldogs started the match strong attacking the Bears’ interior defense. Gregg scored a few quick points which provided Gonzaga an early advantage. Baylor struggled when the match began as they missed the first five shots. However, the Bears quickly regained their stance with an 8-0 run led by Omier. Gonzaga countered with a 10-0 run of its own.
As the match progressed in the first half, Stromer hit two three-pointers. He and Huff combined for 10 of Gonzaga’s first 18 points off the bench. The Bulldogs’ middle ball screen with Huff caused a slight problems for Baylor. The redshirt sophomore scored eight points and assisted Battle for a three-pointer. Freshman wing Robert Wright III found success contributing to Baylor’s three straight scores to narrow the gap. But Gregg answered back with an impressive and-one layup.
The first half closed with a 12-4 scoring run. Nolan Hickman hit a three-pointer and added a layup in transition as he ended the half with a game-high 11 points. Dusty Stromer also contributed with three 3-pointers for nine points. Baylor struggled to get back in the game as they missed six of its last seven shots before halftime.
After the break, Hickman continued to strengthen Gonzaga’s offense, hitting another three to push the lead to 23 points. Huff assisted Ajayi for an easy dunk, then scored himself with a soft turnaround jumper. Ike provided a strong defensive effort, followed by two consecutive scores to extend the lead. Baylor went two minutes straight without a basket. Nembhard and Hickman hit back-to-back threes in a 10-2 run. Battle’s three consecutive 3-pointers put the game out of reach, and Ajayi added another to cap off the Bulldogs’ 13th triple of the night. With that, the game ended with Gonzaga 101, Baylor 63.
