In the midst of turbulent job market conditions both in India and globally, a comprehensive worldwide survey has unveiled a compelling list of industries where Indian companies are actively hunting for fresh talent. For job seekers navigating these uncertain times, this could offer a clear roadmap to streamline their search efforts and focus on the sectors with the highest demand.
Research conducted by Indeed reveals that “Sales” emerged as the most frequently searched term by employers in India, constituting a significant 10% of all resume searches on the platform in 2023.
Indeed is a leading job site worldwide and a pivotal platform for job matching and hiring,
Similarly, in Singapore, it claimed the top spot, representing 8% of all resume searches in the nation during the same period.
Explaining the prominence of sales in the job market, Callam Pickering, APAC senior economist at Indeed, highlighted its potential for high stress levels, substantial staff turnover, and a heightened risk of burnout, factors contributing to common shortages and recruitment challenges in the sector.
Moreover, Indeed’s data showcases other prevalent search terms by Indian employers in 2023, providing insights into their recruitment priorities.
These include “Accounting” at 2%, “Nurse” at 1%, “Telecaller” at 0.94%, and “Mechanic” at 0.9%, each indicating the proportion of total searches conducted by recruiters in the country.
Commenting on these trends, Sashi Kumar, head of sales at Indeed India, noted that sales and accounting roles transcend various industries, resulting in consistently high demand.
