It’s hard to make it in the NBA.
With just 450 full-time roster spots and 90 two-ways, it is one of the most exclusive league’s in the world, meaning players not only have to earn their spot but work to keep it.
But one former top three draft pick has stated his intention to return to the league after four years away.

One of the most effective scorers in college basketball, Jahlil Okafor was heralded as an elite big man entering the NBA.
However, he arrived just as his style was going out of vogue, and found himself phased out of the league; he played six seasons for five different franchises, most recently the Detroit Pistons in 2021.
Now playing in the G League with the Indiana Mad Ants, Okafor has stated his intention to return to the NBA, noting his ability as a scorer.
“Priority number one is to get back into the NBA,” Okafor said.
“I’m in my 10th season right now, professionally, year one to year 10, there’s a tonne of differences for me. Probably the biggest is just how to be a true professional each and every day, no matter what’s going on.
“First and foremost, I’m a scorer. I’m one of the best low-post scores, still, to this day.
“I’m a veteran, so I have a lot of experience in this lead, and I’m going to be a leader for the team and try to be dominant on both ends of the board.
“I’ve seen a lot. I’ve been fortunate to do a lot. A lot of highs, a lot of lows, so just trying to share some of my experiences with them and hope that it’ll help them.”
Okafor has played professionally in Spain, China, and Puerto Rico since leaving the NBA four years ago, but the 28-year-old could still make a return to the league with a solid stint for the Mad Ants.
