The PGA Tour website has proclaimed how more Americans are golfing than ever before, with, by the the National Golf Administration’s (NGF) estimates, roughly 40 percent of the population playing, reading or watching the sport.
Many readers of PennLive may be thrilled, then, that Pennsylvania has been ranked by a recent study as one of the top 10 states for golfing in the U.S.
Casino.ca — which, according to its “About us” page, is a Canada-based casino review site which seeks to be “an informative and successful website in which Canadians could luck up anything from their favourite games to our reviewed and trusted casinos” — sent said study via press release on Monday.
Researchers at the site analyzed each of the 50 on what they viewed as key golf metrics such as number of golf courses; number of golf events; number of golf shops; and the number of Facebook communities surrounding golf located each state. They even considered annual rainfall into final results, too.
When all was said and done, Pennsylvania ended up ranking as the ninth top golf state overall. The Keystone State boasts nearly 690 golf courses total, according to the study, as well as 167 golf shops and 286 golf-related Facebook groups.
The top three slots, however, were taken up by Texas in third; Florida in second; and that perfect-weather state — California — in first.
