Eminem’s new album ‘The Death of Slim Shady’ has dethroned Taylor Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ after 12 weeks at the top of the charts. The rapper’s 11th studio album has been met with mixed reviews, however, it debuted with 281,000 records sold in its first week. The ‘Lose Yourself’ rapper’s rise to number one on the charts came thanks to 220 million streams and 114,000 digital downloads. This marks Eminem’s first return to the Billboard chart since ‘The Slim Shady LP’ in 1999. Swift’s album had been the best-selling of the year so far, with around 4.66 million units sold, more than the rest of the top 10 combined. The ‘Love Story’ singer thanked fans online for her album staying “at #1 for the first 12 weeks of its release”.
