Bryan Armetta makes his DraftKings NBA Pick6 selections before Tuesday night’s games.
Even though there’s only four games being played on Tuesday, there’s still plenty of ways to get in on the action with DraftKings Sportsbook. Stars such as Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, and Zion Williamson are all taking the floor tonight, but there are plenty of lesser-known names that could net you a serious profit. Make sure to play these DraftKings NBA Pick6 selections ahead of Tuesday’s matchups.
Now that Steph Curry is out of action for the immediate future, the Warriors are in a state of flux. Without their best player, it remains to be seen who will step up on Golden State. A leading candidate for more touches is Buddy Hield. Brought over as a free agent this offseason, the former Kings sniper has been as advertised thus far, putting up 19 points per game on 52.5% shooting from the field.
Those numbers are fantastic, but Hield is due for a regression, with or without Curry. He’s only playing 21 minutes per game, a direct result of Steve Kerr’s deep 12-man rotation. The nine-year veteran is also a career 43.4% shooter, so his current efficiency is simply unsustainable. Even with a slight minutes boost, I’m fading Hield tonight.
It’s been a mixed first week in Minnesota for Julius Randle. The two-time All-NBA selection had a rough opening night against the Lakers, but he’s rebounded with 57 total points against the Kings and Raptors. In a Western Conference Finals rematch, the Timberwolves will need the ‘good’ Randle to show up if they have any chance of taking down the Mavericks.
Luckily for the Wolves, Randle has thrived against his hometown team. In his last six games against Dallas, he’s averaging 28.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists. On paper, the duo of P.J. Washington and Naji Marshall won’t have an easy time defending the power forward’s bully ball style of play. Expect Minnesota to try and get their star going tonight.
Dejounte Murray is out of commission for several weeks with a fractured hand, which should open up more opportunity for the rest of New Orleans’ backcourt. The Pelicans have relied upon CJ McCollum for lead guard duties, and so far he’s delivered. The 33-year-old is putting up 23.3 points on 47.4% shooting, but there could be room for his game to grow even more.
On the season, McCollum is only averaging 3.7 assists, a noticeable dip from his previous three campaigns with the Pels (averaged 5.3 assists with NOP). Now that Murray is gone, the twelve-year veteran should be tasked with more distribution, especially if teammate Zion Williamson finds his shot (24.6 FG%). Tuesday’s matchup should see plenty of chances to score; both New Orleans (8th) and Golden State (4th) rank inside the top ten in pace of play this season.
The Nets are going to be a tough watch on most nights, but at least they have Cam Thomas. The young guard puts the score in score-first; this season, he’s averaging 30.7 points per game. That number will probably come down sooner rather than later, but the third-year man from LSU has shown some drastic improvement as a shooter so far.
Through three games, Thomas is averaging 4.0 three-pointers made on a whopping 8.7 attempts per game. Normally, those numbers would be destined for regression, but who else is going to take those shots on Brooklyn’s roster? It’s clear that Cam will be the driving force behind this entire offense, so there’s no reason not to expect a gargantuan usage rate going forward. The Nuggets employ one of the league’s better perimeter defenses, but Thomas’ massive workload makes this number impossible to ignore.
As mentioned previously, Golden State is in need of someone to step up with Steph Curry sidelined. Perhaps that will be Jonathan Kuminga? For years, the lanky forward has been tabbed as the next great Warriors star. While that hasn’t quite gone as planned, he’s still just 22 years of age.
Although the fourth-year man has struggled this season (8.0 PPG on 33.3% shooting), much of that is skewed by a two-point outing last Friday. In Kuminga’s last five games played without Curry, he’s averaging a solid 19.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists. However, if you remove a zero-point game last April, the young Warrior cleared 27.5 PRA in each of his other four non-Steph matchups. Despite a slow start to the year, this is a number Kuminga could clear even if Golden State was fully healthy.
Last season was frustrating for Walker Kessler, as his minutes fluctuated drastically from night to night. Luckily, it appears that Jazz head coach Will Hardy has changed course this year, playing the third-year center for nearly 27 minutes per game so far. That might not sound like much, but it’s enough for the seven-footer to snatch down plenty of rebounds.
So far this year, Kessler is averaging 11.3 boards per game, reaching double figures in two of his three outings. Tuesday’s date with the Kings should guarantee the big man plenty of playing time; there’s nobody else on Utah’s roster that is capable of guard the bruising Domantas Sabonis. As long as the playing time is there, which it should be tonight, I’ll gladly bank on Kessler’s ability to clean the glass.
