The most head-scratching play we’ve seen so far was Dak Prescott’s deep ball throw to wide receiver KaVontae Turpin. Not only was 49ers safety Ji’Ayir Brown back deep to double on the coverage, but Turpin is maybe 5-foot-9. He’s definitely not a jump ball threat. The only reason to attempt that throw is if you think Turpin has the cornerback beat. To throw into double coverage there just didn’t make much sense.
For the third consecutive game, Prescott has thrown an interception. He threw two against the Detroit Lions and two the week before against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Prescott only threw nine interceptions last season. This year, he already has seven. Maybe it’s poor decisions, but maybe it’s more about Prescott pressing a little to try to make something happen for an offense that has been stagnant for most of the season.
