The number of available college basketball transfers continues to dwindle by the day as more and more top prospects make commitment decisions. The recent record-setting transfer portal window closed at the beginning of May, but that did not slow down high-major college basketball programs from going after available talent. In fact, that process continues for even a handful of blue bloods.
Indiana and Kentucky both sit among the top-five in the 2024 college basketball transfer portal team rankings with new additions to their respective incoming haul. As did Cincinnati, Duke, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Vanderbilt, Virginia and West Virginia.
The list of best available players remaining in the college basketball transfer portal is still loaded with high-end talent for those teams looking to fill specific needs ahead of the 2024-25 season. Only 10 transfer prospects in the top-100 rankings are uncommitted with many of those also testing the NBA Draft process.

Previous school: Rice
Kansas also landed a recent commitment from a Rice transfer. The Jayhawks added depth at the point guard position by securing Noah Shelby, a former four-star recruit coming out of high school. He spent just one season with the Owls after transferring in from Vanderbilt following his freshman campaign in 2023. Shelby averaged 3.9 points in less than 12 minutes of action per game this past season and had a similar role with the Commodores the prior season. He has two years of eligibility remaining at Kansas.

West Virginia has one of the top incoming transfer portal classes this spring and continues to add key pieces for its 2024-25 roster. Former Washington State point guard Joseph Yesufu is among the latest to join the Mountaineers overhauled lineup. The three-time transfer began his college career at Drake under new West Virginia head coach Darian DeVries. Yesufu also spent two seasons at Kansas. He played in just six games this past season at Washington State before a hip injury sidelined him. He had the best season of his college career during his final year at Drake where he averaged 12.8 points per game.

Previous school: Bellarmine
Indiana went to the low-major level in search of a big man. Former Bellarmine standout Langdon Hatton joins the Hoosiers for his final year of eligibility. The 6-foot-10, 240-pound veteran began his college career at William & Mary. Hatton averaged 10.5 points, 7.1 rebounds and blocked 24 shots in 31 games this past season. He also has the ability to knock down shots from outside, connecting on 33% of his 3-point attempts.

Oklahoma State has a number of spots to fill on its 2024-25 roster with new head coach Steve Lutz taking over. The Cowboys secured a transfer commitment from former Xavier power forward Abou Ousmane, who previously had two productive seasons with the Musketeers in which he averaged double-digits scoring. The 6-foot-10, 244-pound big man averaged just 6.7 points per game this past season, but had a career-best 6.4 rebounds per contest. Ousmane has one additional year of eligibility remaining.

New Kentucky head coach Mark Pope continues to add to the Wildcats incoming transfer class with veterans. Former Fairleigh Dickinson leading scorer Ansley Almonor is en route to Lexington after three strong seasons with the Knights, which included a historic first-round upset in the 2023 NCAA Tournament as a 16-seed. Almonor averaged 16.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists this past season while shooting 43.6% from the field. The 6-foot-7, 219-pound scorer has one year of eligibility remaining at Kentucky.

Kasean Pryor experienced a breakout season at USF, but is on the move for the second time in as many seasons. The 6-foot-10, 210-pound forward recently committed to Louisville and new head coach Pat Kelsey. Pryor averaged 13.0 points and 7.9 rebounds while connecting on 44.7% of his shots. He spent the first two years of his college career at Boise State where he played in just 13 games and averaged less than five minutes of action. He has one year of eligibility remaining with the Cardinals.

Kijani Wright never reached his full potential during his two-year stint at USC before entering the portal in March. The former top-100 high school prospect looks for a fresh start with a transfer to Vanderbilt in 2024-25. The 6-foot-9, 235-pound Los Angeles native saw action in 57 games for the Trojans, but averaged less than three points in fewer than 11 minutes per contest. Wright did flash at times this season as a sophomore, scoring a career-best 12 points twice. He has two years of eligibility remaining with the Commodores.

Dai Dai Ames spent just one season at Kansas State before entering the transfer portal in late April and will join Virginia for the 2024-25 campaign. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound point guard ranked as a top-100 high school prospect in the 2023 class. Ames started in 16 of 31 games played with the Wildcats this past season, averaging 5.2 points, 1.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest. He shot just 35.3% from the field and 32.9% from 3-point range. Ames has three years of eligibility remaining with the Cavaliers.

From junior college, to NCAA Division I mid-major and now the Big 12. The journey for Australian big man Achor Achor is impressive. The 6-foot-9, 227-pound veteran is set to join Kansas State for his final year of eligibility in 2024-25. Achor earned First Team All-Southern Conference honors this past season with 16.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. He spent two seasons each at Chipola College in Florida and Samford.

It is certainly an interesting path, but Riley Kugel will finally play basketball at Mississippi State. Kugel initially signed with the Bulldogs out of high school before later de-committing and enrolling at Florida instead. He spent the past two seasons with the Gators and entered the transfer portal in March. It appeared Kugel was bound for Kansas after making his commitment to the Jayhawks, but reopened his recruitment before making it to campus in Lawrence. The 6-foot-5, 207-pound point guard 9.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 23.3 minutes of action per game this past season as a sophomore at Florida. He joins Mississippi State with two years of eligibility remaining.

Former Michigan State point guard A.J. Hoggard will return to college for a fifth and final season after opting to transfer to Vanderbilt despite putting his name in the 2024 NBA Draft. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound veteran averaged double-digit scoring each of the past two seasons with the Spartans, including 10.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists during the 2023-24 campaign. Hoggard started in 83 of 131 games played at Michigan State under Hall of Fame head coach Tom Izzo.

One of the top mid-major transfer prospects is off the board. Former UNC Wilmington small forward Trazarien White will now make the jump to the power conference level at TCU in 2024-25. The 6-foot-7, 190-pound veteran has one year of eligibility remaining after three stellar seasons with the Seahawks. White averaged 19.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and shot 39% from 3-point range as a junior. He earned First Team All-CAA honors after finishing top five in the conference for scoring and top 10 in rebounding.

Dillon Mitchell will remain in the Big 12 for the 2024-25 season. The former Texas power forward is on the move to Cincinnati with two years of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-8, 205-pound former five-star recruit started in 71 of 72 games during his two seasons with the Longhorns. Mitchell improved as a sophomore this past campaign with an average of 9.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. He shot 58.5% from the field, which was second-best at Texas.
