WINTERSVILLE — The Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club held its annual competition Sept. 17 at Two Ridges Presbyterian Church in Wintersville. Judges included professional photographers Cindy Baxter, Larry Tackett and Garen DiBartolomeo. More than 260 photos in 16 categories were submitted for judging.
Those placing in the area of abstract included, Sharon Slokan, first place; Sue Adey, second; and Michelle Stevens, third. Top finishers in photos focusing on architecture included: Adey first place; Adey, second; and Karen Felix, third. Black and white photo winners were: Barb Momyer, first; Stevens, second; and Felix, third. Top finishers for the category of children included, Felix, first place; Eric Patterson, second; and Stevens, third.
Closeup photo finishers included, Adey, first place; Adey, second; and Jenny Riegler, third. The category of flowers and plants had the following winners: Slokan, first; Stevens, second; and John Newlin, third. Under the category of night, first place was awarded to Momyer; Felix received second; and Stevens, third. The open category finishers were: Stevens, first; Riegler, second; and Adey, third. Top finishers for the category of people were: Patterson, first; Patterson, second; and Felix, third. The top finishers for the category of pets included, Felix, first place; Stevens, second; and Diane Bannister, third.
Landscape category finishers included, Felix, first; Patterson, second; and Riegler, third. Special effects finishers were: Momyer, first; Felix, second; and Patterson, third.
In the category of sports, top finishers included, Stevens, first; Slokan, second; and Stevens, third.
The photo category winners for still life included, Felix, first; Adey, second; and Adey, third.
Winners of a sunrise or sunset photo included, Felix, first; Patterson, second; and Adey, third. Top finishers for wildlife photos included, John Hanish, first; Momyer, second; and Stevens, third. The best of show went to Hanish.
The camera club will feature all of the winning photographs from the annual competition, as well as several additional photos, during an exhibit scheduled to begin from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Summit Gallery, Top of West Virginia Arts Council, located at 243 Three Springs Drive, Suite 17 in Weirton. The exhibit will continue through Oct. 30 during the Top of West Virginia’s business hours, being 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
The Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club welcomes any individual who has an interest in photography.
