A golf course in Palm Beach has been named one of the top places for women looking to sink a putt and hit the spa.
The Breakers was named one of Golf Digest’s 50 best golf trip destinations for women in a list released this week.
In naming the historic Palm Beach resort and its Ocean Course a great place for women to hit the links, Golf Digest said The Breakers “appeals to group trips and family getaways with golf academies, indoor-outdoor spa, kids-activity center and dining options for any palette.”
The Breakers’ 18-hole Ocean Course was originally designed in 1897 by Alexander H. Findlay. It reopened in 2018 after a renovation led by golf course architect Rees Jones.
More women are taking up golf, with Golf Digest reporting that 800,000 ladies grabbed golf clubs between 2019 and 2023, according to the National Golf Foundation.
Golf Digest said it looked for resorts that offer “women-friendly environments, many with golf school options if you want to work on your game while you’re away.”
The list is separated by region, with The Breakers included in a lineup of Southern resorts alongside Cabot Citrus Farms in Brooksville; Grand Hotel Golf Resort and Spa in Point Clear, Alabama; The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia; Horseshoe Bay Resort in Horseshoe Bay, Texas; and Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
