Petoskey, MI – BOYNE Golf, one of the largest golf resort destinations in North America located in Northern Michigan, has been named among Golf Digest’s “50 Best Golf Destinations for Women.” In addition to recognizing BOYNE’s three resorts with 10 golf courses, Golf Digest also highlighted its flagship property, Inn at Bay Harbor and Bay Harbor Golf Club.
The Golf Digest editorial team polled its female teachers and course-ranking panelists to vote on the best American golf resorts they would recommend to other women. The team thoroughly researched and vetted the results, to compile a list of the 50 Best Golf Destinations for Women.
“As more women join the game — 800,000 from 2019 to 2023, according to the National Golf Foundation — more realize one of the greatest experiences for any golfer is gathering your friends and taking your collective love of golf on the road,” said Keely Levins, assistant editor of Golf Digest. “To help you and your friends plan your next great golf trip, we talked to women golfers and instructors across the country to curate this list of 50 destinations in the United States that would all make a great choice for a women’s golf trip.”
The Golf Digest article goes on to acknowledge that every group seeks something different in a golf getaway, which is why this list is full of unique experiences – whether a group of friends wants to travel and only play golf, wants to mix in other activities, easily access a top-notch spa, or include wining and dining.
“We are very excited to be recognized by Golf Digest alongside these great resort destinations across the country,” said Josh Richter, Senior Vice President of Golf Operations for Boyne Resorts. “One of the fastest growing segments in golf has been women, and we have seen that growth continue to increase annually across our resorts, and with our continued renovations across our golf courses, as well as with our resorts, we continue to focus on making their golf trip experience the best it can be.”
BOYNE Golf’s scenic location on the western edge of the Eastern time zone allows for extra daylight in the summer to play on and off the courses. Women enjoy the variety of scenic and serene settings. Over the past several seasons BOYNE Golf has been enhancing the experience with course renovations, including six tee boxes on each hole, improved mowing patterns, and tree removal that make the courses that much more enjoyable for all golfers. Getting to the area, often referred to as America’s Summer Golf Capital, has never been easier, with 20 U.S. airports now offering direct service into nearby Traverse City (TVC).
One of the most popular experiences for women has been the “Ladies Golf School” at the BOYNE Golf Academy. The three-day school is one of the best golfing values in the country, and it not only includes instruction but unlimited golf on BOYNE’s 10 golf courses. Newly renovated rooms at The Highlands Main Lodge and Chalet Edelweiss at Boyne Mountain redefine modern luxury with a European feel, along with multiple spas, dining, and outdoor activities, including the new SkyBridge Michigan, which bring together the ultimate golf and lifestyle escape.
