Nuno Borges achieved his career-high this Monday when the ATP rankings were updated, rising to 30th place.
The tennis player became the second Portuguese to break into the top 30 after João Sousa, who was ranked 28th in 2016, after losing to Medvedev in the US Open last 16. Nuno Borges was rated 34th prior to the Grand Slam.
The US Open champion Janik Sinner is still atop the rankings, followed by Alexander Zverev of Germany and Alcaraz. It was Novak Djokovic’s lowest position since January 2023 when he fell to fourth.
After placing second in the US major, Taylor Fritz is currently ranked seventh.
Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus won the US Open, however, she is still ranked below Iga Swiatek in the women’s division. The losing finalist, Jason Pegula, is currently in third place.
