Below are scores and stats from the weekend’s action, including a spotlight on 10 top performers.
The Lady Mustangs made history with Friday’s 61-35 victory against Jacksboro, completing the program’s first ever undefeated run through a district. The outright District 7-3A champs (24-4, 12-0) were led by a 25-point performance from Marks.
Goodner scored more than half her team’s points in a 39-35 victory against crosstown rival Memorial in District 4-5A action. That effort pulled Legacy even with Memorial for third place in the district.
Cervantes scored a game-high 23 points, and Saint Jo (22-5, 9-0) claimed the District 18-A title outright.
Berry lit up the scoreboard with an impressive 33-point performance, but it wasn’t enough to overcome red hot Iowa Park. The Hawks got 19 points from Hunter Britt and 14 from Koyt Holloway in a 58-51 victory over the Eagles. The win puts Iowa Park (20-8, 7-2) alone in first place in District 7-3A.
Goodman scored with 20 seconds remaining in the game, delivering the decisive points in a 34-33 victory against Vernon in District 7-3A action. Goodman finished with a game-high 16 points.
Williams delivered a critical 24-point performance Friday, helping City View bounce back from a rough patch with a 67-43 victory against Jacksboro. The Mustangs (11-11, 6-4) had lost three of their previous four games.
Phillips had a game-high 22 points, while teammate Jariyis Williams added 20 in a 70-56 victory against county rival Knox City. The state-ranked Moguls (22-5, 8-0) are undefeated in District 16-A.
Hensley averages a double-double and delivered 20 points in Petrolia’s upset bid of Seymour in District 9-2A action. Seymour (26-3, 10-0) managed to survive, 41-35, to stay undefeated in District 9-2A action.
McCormick is almost a guaranteed 30 points every time he steps on the court. On Friday, he scored 31 points, and the Pirates routed Throckmorton, 109-18, clinching a playoff spot out of District 17-A.
