Monday night’s non-league girls basketball game between Dartmouth High and Durfee was ended abruptly by game officials late in the fourth quarter after an on-the-court scuffle between players from both teams escalated into a melee when fans got involved.
Dartmouth was leading 51-36 with 2:13 remaining in the game when play was stopped for the incident and the hosts were declared the official winner.
An unfinished storage shed that would service Fairhaven High School and its turf athletic field has become a seemingly unlikely source of controversy.
Nine abutters appealed the building permit. They say the unfinished 24-foot-high storage shed alongside Fairhaven’s architecturally renowned high school building is an “eyesore” and safety liability that obstructs visibility on that busy Huttleston Avenue stretch of Route 6.
A 19-year-old New Bedford man was held without bail following arraignment Monday on a murder charge in connection with a shooting on Saturday that left a New Bedford man dead and two women wounded.
Danielson Varela, 19, was arrested Sunday night in connection with the shooting. He is charged with first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, and two counts of assault and battery with a firearm.
After a decade of being a staple in the New Bedford food scene, dNB Craft Kitchen has been listed for sale. The eatery got its start in 2014 as dNB Burgers on Elm Street, before relocating to 768 Purchase St. in 2020.
According to a listing by Bold Real Estate, dNB Craft Kitchen — “a cornerstone of the local dining scene” located in a prime spot near the bus station and Seakstreak Ferry — is on the market for just $100,000.
A Dartmouth High School student faces assault charges, including assault with intent to murder, for allegedly attempting to stab another student at the school Wednesday morning using a pen with a screwdriver on the end, according to Dartmouth Police.
Police said the students involved were juveniles, and names were not being released.
