4 Phantom Flight (Bet Now: $6.00) is the one to beat for me. This gelding resumed in a very slowly run race at Newbury where it came down to who had the best change up speed and it was evident a fair way out that he had the change up speed, drawing clear late to win well. Similar set up here I feel so that’s why he is on top.
Danger
2 Al Aasy (Bet Now: $4.00) comes through the same race at Newbury mentioned above. He was not really suited by the sit/sprint set up but that said, he did let down nicely but being first up, condition just gave way late in the piece when second. Better for the run under the belt, fitter and up in trip, he’s a leading contender.
Long Shot
3 Lion’s Pride (Bet Now: $5.00) has a good record at 2400m. Team Gosden trained four year old that resumed over 2000m at Sandown where he was in a race that became a sit/sprint and he’s not that kind of horse. That said, despite lacking the turn of foot, he stayed on and was good in defeat when third. Dangerous here.
Back Me
10 Align The Stars (Bet Now: $4.20) on top. This guy seems to be getting better with racing and confident he can measure up. He ran at Haydock on July 6 when off the speed and trucking before angling into clear air and he got better as the race went on, drawing clear late to win and win well. Has run well at Goodwood previously and off his winning form, he will take beating.
Danger
2 Fairbanks (Bet Now: $4.20) is flying for Andrew Balding and rates highly for mine. He won at Newmarket on July 12 and was quite impressive. He was near the speed throughout and trucking in the run before being clicked and he was never getting beat from a fair way out, winning impressively. Leading contender.
Long Shot
3 Intinso (Bet Now: $13.00) has to be given another look for Team Gosden. He has been kept on ice since Royal Ascot when contesting the Copper Horse, finishing down the track and beaten a long way. He was too bad to be true but off prior efforts, he is more than good enough to give this a shake.
Back Me
12 Oxford Comma (Bet Now:
$SP.00) looks a big price here. This filly is racing as if she will eat up the trip and despite the class rise, happy to speck her. The last start win was on June 16 when winning over 2400m at Doncaster, getting better as the race went on and was strong late. Off that, 2800m is fine and confident she can run well.
Danger
1 Caius Chorister (Bet Now: $5.00) looks much better suited here vs last time, when contesting the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot when thrown in the deep end and while she was outclassed, she didn’t disgrace herself in defeat behind Kyprios. Back to Mares grade and back in trip, she appeals.
Long Shot
11 Grateful (Bet Now: $7.50) is heading in the right direction for Aidan O’Brien. This girl won at Fairyhouse last time, getting the suck run in transit before angling clear and presented with purpose. No real turn of foot but she found when asked and was impressive in the run to the line. In the right camp, so she commands respect.
Back Me
21 The X O (Bet Now: $31.00) is worth an each way bet. He ran over 1400m at Royal Ascot in the Buckingham Palace where he was near the speed throughout towards the outside fence. He tried hard and although held, he didn’t disgrace himself. Like him back to 1200m and with his racing pattern, he’ll give plenty of cheek.
Danger
2 Dark Trooper (Bet Now: $6.50) has done little wrong this time in. He comes through the Wokingham at Royal Ascot where he was back with cover before angling for clear air and he launched late to run second in a good effort. That form surely has to read well for a race like this.
Long Shot
20 Billyjoh (Bet Now: $7.00) is on the back up after racing at Goodwood on Wednesday night when back, tracking, before angling wider and although held late, he found the line quite well in defeat. He does seem to react on the back up so with that in mind, commands respect.
Back Me
4 Jehangeer (Bet Now: $9.50) for me. He won over 1200m at Thirsk last time out, sitting off the speed before finding the outside fence, best ground, and let down with purpose late in the piece, proving quite strong in the run to the line, suggesting 1400m suits and finds a winnable race.
Danger
6 Mission To Moon (Bet Now: $4.20) comes back to 1400m after racing over the mile in the Britannia at Royal Ascot. He got back in the run and was badly held up at times before getting clear and found the line well enough in defeat behind Mickley. Back to 1400m and back in depth, he appeals.
Long Shot
5 Witness Stand (Bet Now: $34.00) can bounce back hard on a firmer deck. This gelding ran over 1500m at Chester last time out where he was just too bad to be true, but the track was quite shifty there so on a firmer deck and maps to get a suck run, his best is more than good enough.
Back Me
1 Angelo Buonarroti (Bet Now:
$SP.00) is short enough but I do think he has enough on these. This colt was thrown in the deep end when debuting in the Coventry, where he was held throughout but he was beaten under three lengths in what is always a good race. Now with the Beckett camp and up to 1400m, he only runs up to the debut and he wins I say.
Danger
6 Consolidation (Bet Now: $2.90) has been strong in two career outings and commands respect. He hasn’t raced since June 28 over this trip at Doncaster when leading and he did give a solid kick when asked but just lacked the killer blow to go with them late in the piece when second. Hard fit, good racing style, he appeals.
Long Shot
7 Hot Shott (Bet Now: $5.50) is a colt that is resuming for Richard Hughes. He debuted at Kempton on May 29 when getting the suck run in transit before finding the cutaway and he tried hard, but was held late, but he stayed on and was sound enough in defeat. Better for the run, he’s in with a shout.
Back Me
9 Native Warrior (Bet Now: $2.25) will do me in the get out. This colt comes through the Britannia where he got back near last, finding the outside fence, and although held up for a few strides, he did find the line and was quite good in defeat behind Mickley. Like him up in trip and this isn’t a deep race vs last time.
Danger
11 Magic Memories (Bet Now:
$SP.00) is a query at 1800m but with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance. He was near the speed throughout in the Challenge at Sandown and tried hard but on the line, he was held in defeat when fourth. Back on a firmer deck, on speed, he’ll be there when the whips are cracking.
Long Shot
5 Pisanello (Bet Now: $20.00) looks suited up in trip. He ran over the mile at Hamilton last time when back off the speed and held up for a few strides before eventually finding clear air out wide and he found the line well in defeat when third. I think the extra ground suits and hopefully gets room to move this time around.
BEST BET: Race Six Number 1 Angelo Buonarroti
NEXT BEST: Race One Number 4 Phantom Flight
LONG SHOT: Race Three Number 12 Oxford Comma
