SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Texas women’s basketball’s Taylor Jones has been named a top-10 finalist for the Lisa Leslie Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced today.
The Lisa Leslie Award, now in its eighth year, recognizes the top centers in Division I women’s college basketball. It is named after the three-time All-American, 1994 National Player of the Year, and Class of 2015 Hall of Famer.
Jones is averaging 12.5 points and 6.7 rebounds on the season and is shooting 64.4 percent from the field. Jones has posted six double-doubles this season, including 21 points and 14 rebounds in a win over No. 17 Tennessee. Jones has scored 20 or more points in two games this season.
