WNBA: Ezinne Kalu Targets Top Basketball Award

Nigeria’s basketball sensation, Ezinne Kalu has set sights on achieving one of the top awards in Basketball, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The D’Tigress captain signed a seven-day hardship contract with the Atlanta Dream on September 17th, 2024 and scored the first basket of her WNBA career against the New York Liberty on September 19th 2024.
In a post on her X handle, she said: “Mark my words. One of these seasons, I will get Defensive Player of The Year!”
Kalu made her WNBA debut in September, becoming the first athlete from a historically Black college to play in the league in over 15 years.
Kalu represented the Nigerian junior national team before working her way up to captain the senior national team in 2016.
She led D’Tigress, Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team, to the quarterfinals of the 2024 Paris Games where she averaged 18.5 points at the Olympics.
