MADISON – It took a few weeks and five straight wins, but Wisconsin has climbed back into the top 25 of one poll and is on the cusp of rejoining another.
The Badgers men’s basketball team checks in at No. 24 in The Associated Press poll following a week when it won at Rutgers and defeated Minnesota at home.
Wisconsin holds the 27th spot in the USA Today Coaches poll. This marks the first time since Dec. 9 that the Badgers have been ranked. That week they were ranked No. 20 by the AP and No. 22 by the coaches.
The Badgers made serious inroads in both rankings. Last week they were the equivalent of 30th in the AP poll with 31 points. This week they have 132. In the coaches poll, they jumped from three points last week to 29 this week,
Here is the breakdown for the rest of the Big Ten’s ranked teams: Michigan State (12 AP, 12 coaches), Oregon (13, 14), Purdue (17, 15) , Michigan (20, 19), Illinois (19, 20).
Wisconsin (13-3, 3-2 Big Ten) returns to action Tuesday night at the Kohl Center vs. Ohio State (10-6, 2-3). Tip off is at 8 p.m.
