Sticking with offense, Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden also had a big week in Indy and led all receivers in the 40-yard dash with a blazing run of 4.29 seconds.
Golden, who had 58 receptions for 987 yards and nine touchdowns for the Longhorns in 2024, is NFL Network Daniel Jeremiah’s No. 22 overall prospect.
He’s been lauded for what he put on tape during his final year at Texas but made some more noise showing off the speed and quickness he did this past week.
It was Golden who paced the wide receivers with an impressive 4.29 with a 1.49-second 10-yard split.
That was it for the drills for Golden but it was more than enough. The Texas wideout was considered a late first-round player but could go a few spots higher after his day in Indianapolis.
South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori had a similar week to Golden, as he jumped up the boards with one of the most athletic displays of the Combine.
At 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, Emmanwori ran a 4.38 40-yard dash with a 1.49 10-yard split, which was good for the best split of the week alongside Golden. He also jumped better than everyone there, going 11-foot, 6-inches in the broad jump and 43 inches in the vertical.
He even drew some comparisons to a certain Chargers All-Pro safety.
He is much more than just a freak athlete, his tape is good. NFL coaches are getting increasingly impressed. He can play in the box and has good ball skills. He does miss some tackles, but the Derwin James comparison comes up a lot now.
Speaking of athleticism on display, Texas A&M edge rusher Shemar Stewart was right up there with Emmanwori in that department.
